Later after some months, it was registered on the list of American Stock Exchange. It was registered under the ticker name FLO on the New York Stock Exchange in 1968.

The company later in mid of 1990’s acquired Mrs. Smith’s Pies and Keebler Company. Flowers delivered its shareholders with $1.24 billion after selling Kellogg the Keebler’s investment. Flowers Foods began with the grouping of the units Mrs. Smith’s Bakeries and Flowers Bakeries. Later Mrs. Smith’s business of frozen dessert was sold to Schwan Foods Company in 2003.
